Ken Karl
Ken has been drawing sport celebrities for several years. He is a resident of St. Louis, Missouri and a graduate of Missouri State University. Ken has been a professional artist for over 25+ years. He has been able to combine two of his greatest passions into one, creating memorable sports art.
Ken's work is done in mixed media, markers, colored pencils and various paints, even extending into digital painting. He specializes in hand created 1/1 custom art cards. Ken's custom art card's have been called the "Ferrari's" of the 1/1 sports card industry by collectors. He has found that he can achieve rich degrees of shadows and highlights while still maintaining a high degree of realism and detail while combining multiple mediums. Ken uses a combination of colored boards, acrylic paint, and water color techniques to create his distinct backgrounds. He loves the fact that very few people work in colored pencil and marker. Ken believes this allows his work to stand out.
Ken has created images for Stan the Man Inc., Terrell Owens, The Boys of Summer from the Sandlot movie, The Missouri Athletic Club, Beckett Media, and Topps Trading cards just to name a few. His artwork has been featured in Beckett Magazine's June 2020 Artist Spotlight Issue, and again in the 2021 issue as well. Ken and his original 1/1 art card's have appeared on several podcast's such as the Sports Card Nation, Beckett Media, and Blake Jamieson's Artist spotlight on his YouTube Channel, to name a few.
